Our Mission

To create a future where undergraduate student scholars have the opportunitiy and resources they need to have their contributions impact the world.

FIU’s First Undergraduate Research Journal

As trailblazers of our own, we are proud to expand FIU’s scholarship by creating a platform for promising scholars to gain early and constructive experience in publishing academic research. This opportunity leads to the exponential growth of student involvement in academia and builds new generations of research at the university level. We strive to educate our student writers on the publication process through collaborative feedback, bridging the gap between the writers they can be and the researchers they are.

Student to Student Collaboration

Student writers have the opportunity to work with student editors during the drafting process before submission and during the revising process after receiving feedback about their submitted manuscripts. This unique opportunity allows student writers to experience the publishing process while receiving the support they need at every step of the way towards publishing their research.

Open Access Multidisciplinary Research

The research which is published in FIUURJ is both from the diverse range of university subjects and freely available to the higher education community as a whole. Being an open access, blind-reviewed multidisciplinary research journal ensures that student scholarship receives the proper support in order to impact and enrich a wide range of compelling fields.

Our Purpose

As FIU’s first undergraduate research journal, FIUURJ is committed to providing a platform for the creative and intellectual achievements of undergraduate students in STEM, the social sciences, art, and the humanities. Our multidisciplinary research aims to foster a community of diverse perspectives in higher education that is run by and for undergraduate students. We also provide students with the unique opportunity to work alongside student editors in the writing process of their manuscript, giving them firsthand experience in the publishing process and ensuring they have the resources they need to successfully research. These roles contribute to FIU’s students’ experience and amplify their voices.
