Become a Student Editor
FIUURJ relies on the diligent work of student editors in the review and editing of proposals and manuscripts, supporting student writers during the writing process, and creation of digital projects for the journal.
Current FIU undergraduate students in their junior/senior year, graduate students, and recent alumni are welcome to join! Students must have taken at least one editing and/or upper-division (ENC) course, such as ENC 4260 Professional Writing, ENC 3491 Processes of Writing, or their equivalent in other disciplines (e.g. IDH 4905).
Students editors for FIU’s Undergraduate Research Journal receive experience in proposal review, copy-editing, digital project management, professional communication skills, and hands on experience in the publishing process.
They are expected to deligently attend training sessions and board meetings as well as regularly communicate with their assigned student writer and help them as much as they request in the drafting and editing of their submission.
